When Wes picks up a piece of wood and envisions what it will look like, he considers three parts:

The Live Edge - this is the part of the tree where the bark meets the hardwood. It’s found on the outside of the tree.

The Sap Line - this is the lighter area of the wood that lies between the live edge and the heart.

The Heart - this is the middle of the tree. It’s the strongest and most uniform part with straight lines that will make up most of each piece.
